Dubai group buys Spanish club Getafe


Dubai-based Royal Emirates Group has signed an agreement to but Spanish Primera Liga club Getafe on Thursday.

"We are very happy to sign this agreement with Getafe, which will be called Getafe Team Dubai," the group's chairman Sheikh Butti bin Suhail al-Maktoum told reporters.

Getafe chairman Angel Torres said he hopes the agreement "will push Getafe to the highest level in domestic and European competition."

The deal to buy the club is believed to be between 70 and 90million euros.

Spanish sides Malaga and Racing Santander were sold to Gulf-based buyers during the past 11 months.
