Egypt lose to 10-man Mali in U20 CAN
Egypt U20s will have to wait until the weekend to learn their fate after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Mali in the African Youth Championship On Wednesday.
Defender Amara Konate scored the only goal of the game with a 65th minute freekick.
The Malians played with ten men for 80 minutes as star striker Kalifa Coulibaly was given a straight red card in the opening ten minutes for an off-the-ball challenge on Ahmed Hegazi.
Egypt remain second of Group A with three points, leveling with hosts South Africa, who edged minnows Lesotho 2-1 earlier on Wednesday.
Mali have booked their place in the semi-final and thus become the first African nation to reach the 2011 World Cup in Colombia.
Egypt now need a draw against South Africa in their final group game on Saturday.
